Many of the providers of e-procurement solutions ignore legacy and traditional purchasing solutions, at best as unimportant, and, at worst, irrelevant. This approach ignores the significant benefit that businesses have obtained over many years using existing traditional best purchasing practice. On the reverse side, many companies with high performance and effective purchasing have rejected the idea of e-procurement as yet another fad which will add nothing to their current processes and practices. In fact, both views are incorrect. This session seeks to highlight the importance of both approaches and to integrate them to provide a combined solution. The session will introduce a strategic framework through which they will be able to identify, by expenditure category, the most effective and appropriate traditional or eprocurement solution or combination of both.
