NARS Invites Abstracts and Proposals for 23rd Annual Symposium

FOR RELEASE: October 9, 2012

Supply professionals and academics are invited to submit proposals through October 19, 2012.

(Tempe, AZ) October 9, 2012 — Plan now to join your distinguished colleagues from academia, research and business at the 23rd Annual North American Research Symposium on Purchasing and Supply Chain Management (NARS). Institute for Supply Management™ (ISM) is accepting abstracts and proposals for consideration to be presented at the symposium, March 14-15, 2013 at the Hilton Phoenix Chandler. This unique event provides a forum for both academicians and practitioners to share completed research, supports collaboration and encourages increased interdisciplinary research in purchasing and supply management.

October 19, 2012 is the deadline to submit abstracts and proposals for symposium presentations. Submissions will be accepted in five categories: 1) competitive proposals; 2) working papers; 3) symposium session proposals; 4) practitioner papers; and 5) teaching case studies. Submissions are subjected to a blind review by a team of research professionals, who rate them on criteria such as appropriateness of the topic for the symposium, organization (logical flow of ideas), theoretical soundness, appropriateness of the research methodology and their contribution to research or instruction.

Presentations at this innovative program focus on research in the fields of supply chain management, purchasing, logistics, materials management, information technology, professional development and talent management, and decision science. The agenda features a mix of presenters from business and academia, creating opportunities to explore the application of theoretical research to create business solutions.

For complete details, including a list of suggested topics, visit the NARS information page on the ISM website and download a 2013 Call for Papers brochure and writing guidelines.

CAPS Research grants research scholarships of US$900 to up to 25 junior faculty members or current doctoral students to support participation in the North American Research Symposium. The scholarships will be provided for paper/session proposals or cases accepted for presentation at the symposium. Scholarship winners must submit a paper for the online symposium Proceedings, attend the entire symposium, and present a paper.
