SAP Global Procurement has been steadily transforming itself into a driver of strategic value. Closely tied to finance, the function is now a key business partner in SAP's commercial success. Besides continuing to control costs, Procurement now plays an increasing role in mitigating risk, improving relationships with suppliers, and supporting employee development and motivation.
A critical enabler of this transformation was process standardization and automation, which freed capacity previously consumed by operational and tactical tasks. During this webinar, hear from SAP Chief Procurement Officer, Dr. Marcell Vollmer, and learn how SAP overcame challenges collaborating with suppliers, eliminating paper and manual intervention, and adopted best practices to extend process automation beyond the four walls of the organization and into the cloud, taking procurement to the next level.
Chief Procurement Officer and Senior Vice President
Marcell Vollmer is chief procurement officer and senior vice president of SAP's Global Procurement Organization (GPO), an operation with global spend volume of more than €3.6 billion in 2012. In this role, Dr. Vollmer is the business owner for the end-to-end procure-to-pay process.
Joining SAP in 2004 as vice president of global finance projects, Dr. Vollmer drove such strategic programs as the set-up, expansion, and globalization of five shared service centers; the post-merger-integration of Sybase; and the finance processes and systems and organizational integration of Business Objects.
