I Am A CPSM® — Brent Frimodig, CPSM, C.P.M.
I noticed immediately that my credibility went up a notch, especially in negotiating with single-source suppliers.
Studying for the CPSM® forced me to learn the theory and background of contracting and supply management, which gave me an edge when pursuing cost effective opportunities for Puget Sound Energy (PSE). I want to be at the table helping make supply chain decisions instead of cranking out purchase orders. I felt the CPSM® was an important representation of the skills I need to accomplish that goal.
I chose the more all-encompassing CPSM® because I prefer supply management over operations and project management. I see myself helping oversee key supply chains for PSE where I can get intricately involved by being the glue of an entire supply chain. That's where the personal and professional opportunity is to make a direct impact on the bottom line. While it is more difficult to quantify an impact to the bottom line with quality assurance and project management, it's quite easy to demonstrate an instant impact with supply management.
