ISM2014 will headline speakers with global energy, economic and comedic experience
FOR RELEASE: March 5, 2014
TEMPE, Ariz. (March 3, 2014) — The Institute for Supply Management® is pleased to present ISM2014 — the 99th Annual International Supply Management Conference from Monday, May 5-7 at the LVH — Las Vegas Hotel & Casino. Join us for three days of supply management professional development, training and networking.
The keynote speaker this year is T. Boone Pickens, a globally recognized oil and gas entrepreneur who has become one of the most respected "effective energy" experts in the world. Pickens will deliver his speech, "Powering America's Energy & Economic Future" during the first day of the Conference on May 5.
Cited by President Barack Obama for his leadership in developing the Pickens Plan for America's energy future, the entrepreneur and visionary has long been an advocate for harnessing domestic alternatives and developing even greater new technologies.
Known to many simply as "the ISM show," this Conference continually sets the bar for supply chain events around the world. From past keynote speakers such like Malcolm Gladwell, Wolf Blitzer and Condoleezza Rice to leading, cross-sector educational content, this is where our profession's best and brightest converge every year.
Other headlined speakers will include Mark Zandi, chief economist of Moody's Analytics and its director of economic research and co-founder of Economy.com. A trusted adviser to policymakers and an influential source of economic analysis for businesses, journalists and the public, Zandi frequently testifies before the U.S. Congress on topics including the economic outlook, the nation's daunting fiscal challenges, the merits of fiscal stimulus, financial regulatory reform and foreclosure mitigation.
Zandi will make his presentation "Economic Trends that Procurement Should Monitor" on May 6.
This year's closing keynote will feature a custom satirical comedic performance by The Second City, with troupes located in multiple cities across the United States. Held on May 7, "50 Years of Funny" will offer a unique ending to ISM2014.
The skills The Second City's members use to create the world's best satire and comedy are the same skills they teach every day to many of the world's most successful corporations, helping them become more innovative, team-driven and nimble organizations. They use humor and open conversation to honestly identify challenges, and improv learning techniques that build both individual and team skills to address those challenges.
Presenters are successful practitioners, experts in the field, sharing what works, who's best-in-class and the tools you need to implement significant improvements within your own organization.
