2013 R. Gene Richter Scholarship Program Recipients Honored at ISM Conference

(Tempe, Ariz.) April 29, 2013 — The largest nationally recognized scholarship program in the field of supply chain management — the R. Gene Richter Scholarship Program — awarded 2013 scholarships today. Ten students, representing seven leading universities, were recognized at an awards dinner held during Institute for Supply Management™'s (ISM) 98th Annual International Supply Management Conference and Educational Exhibit in Dallas/Ft. Worth. The 2013 Richter Scholars are:

- Hanna Downs | Western Michigan University
- Samantha Rose Jarmul | The Pennsylvania State University

- Chelsea Miller | The Pennsylvania State University
- Tyler Morrison | Brigham Young University
- Makenzie Mylod | University of South Carolina
- Richard Westbrook | Brigham Young University
Scholarships are awarded through ISM's R. Gene Richter Scholarship Fund and through the R. Gene and Nancy D. Richter Foundation. The 2013 Richter Scholars receive tuition assistance of up to US$5,000 and the benefits of an executive mentor, which pairs the student with an established executive, and a junior mentor, which pairs the student with a former Richter scholar.
The R. Gene Richter Scholarship Program was established and named in memory of R. Gene Richter, who was a galvanizing force in the field of procurement. Richter is admired for elevating the profession to world-class stature. He led the supply organizations at The Black & Decker Corporation, Hewlett-Packard and International Business Machines (IBM).
