ISM Materials Management Group Earns Top Distinction

(Tempe, Ariz.) May 7, 2012 — Institute for Supply Management™ (ISM) today honored its Materials Management Group as 2011 Group or Forum of the Year. ISM annually recognizes Group and Forum excellence during its international Conference held each spring. ISM Materials Management Group Chair Karl Harward, MBA, accompanied by fellow Group board members accepted the award at a Volunteer Appreciation Breakfast held at the Baltimore Convention Center. It is the second time that ISM's Materials Management Group has achieved this distinction. The first time was in 2010.
"It's inspiring to work with this hardworking volunteer group and participate as Group chair," Harward says. "Many past and present board members have contributed to the overall success of the Group. My hat goes off to them for leading and shaping the way for us." Harward adds that the Group has had many successes with its seminars and workshops. Over the years, the board has consistently planned and arranged a variety of fascinating speakers. The interesting speakers and topics attract strong attendance at co-sponsored seminars. As a result, Materials Management Group seminars are a popular with members of the local ISM affiliate, ISM—Utah, Inc.
ISM Groups and Forums Excellence Awards recognize those Groups and Forums that demonstrate excellence in their professional operations, educational offerings, recruitment, training and retention efforts, while at the same time communicating the value and prestige of ISM and the supply management profession.
