ISM Augments Online Sustainability Resources

FOR RELEASE: September 13, 2011

Updates include inaugural Sustainability Leadership Report

(Tempe, Ariz.) September 13, 2011 — Institute for Supply Management™ (ISM) continues to add to its Sustainability and Social Responsibility website. The site provides a broad range of references, measurements, tools, information and best practices to help supply management professionals develop proactive sustainability and social responsibility programs.

The most recent update is the recently released Sustainability Leadership Report: Measuring Perception vs. Reality. The report reveals findings from a Corporate Sustainability Brand Perception Survey that was conducted in April and May of 2011. The inaugural study was conducted by brand consultancy Brandlogic, in partnership with CRD Analytics, a leading provider of independent sustainability investment analytics.

Sustainability Leadership Report: A Supplemental Look at Perceptions Among U.S. Purchasing/Supply Management Professionals, has also been added to the ISM website. Prepared exclusively for ISM by Brandlogic and CRD Analytics, this report provides an understanding of how average perceptions change among different sub-groups of ISM members who participated in their 2011 study. The supplemental report also shows how ISM respondents' ratings on environmental, social and governance (ESG) factors compare with those of other respondent groups.

Both reports are available as PDF downloads from the Research page on ISM's Sustainability and Social Responsibility website at

ISM believes the supply management profession is a strategic contributor in the development and implementation of sustainability and social responsibility programs and behavior. The Corporate Sustainability Brand Perception Survey included supply chain managers as well as investment professionals and graduating college and university students located in China, Germany, India, Japan, United Kingdom and United States. The report is a quantitative analysis of actual perceived performance around environmental, social and governance (ESG) factors for 100 leading companies. Among the key findings — perceived performance exceeds actual for 66 of 100 companies.
