ISM Academic Research Support Program Seeks Qualified Applicants

Long-running research grant program refined and augmented with new grants supporting all phases of academic career.
(Tempe, Ariz.) November 30, 2010 — Institute for Supply Management™ (ISM), with the support of the ISM Board of Directors, has established an Academic Research Support Program with the goal of increasing academic leadership by the profession and more advanced students entering the supply management profession. The Program will award grants to dedicated researchers and academicians in a career-long grant structure. The Program seeks qualified applicants from a diverse population and international applicants are welcome. Completed application packets are due by January 31, 2011 for all Academic Research Support Program. The four phases include:
- Phase 1: The ISM Dissertation Research Grant
This program extends the long-running ISM Dissertation Grant Program and encourages doctoral students interested in supply management to develop and complete their dissertation research in supply management or closely related topics. ISM intends to support up to four dissertations each year at US$12,000 each. Each applicant has three years from the date of the award to complete the grant.
- Phase 2: The Professional Research Development Grant
The goal of this program is to help faculty build a research and publication field and establish themselves in the profession (i.e. academic institutions, professional organizations, research fund granting bodies such as CAPS Research, etc.) This grant program is designed to support assistant and younger associate professors and faculty selected will generally have two to eight years of teaching and research experience and have successful publication experience beyond the doctoral degree. ISM will consider and may fund up to two grants per year at US$10,000.
- Phase 3: The ISM Professional Research and Collaboration Grant
Supports associate and new full professors to establish themselves as recognized authorities in the field. Faculty selected will generally have nine to 18 years of teaching and research experience with recognition for extensive publications, teaching or expertise in academe or the corporate world. One-year projects will not exceed US$15,000 and multi-year projects cannot exceed three years, with a maximum value of up to US$12,000 per year.
- Phase 4: The ISM Distinguished Leadership Grant
Recognizes and supports senior full professors to achieve even greater research, leadership and collaboration distinction in the academic research field. Faculty selected will generally have 16 to 25 years of teaching and research experience with a distinct recognition for extensive publications, teaching and leadership experience both in academe and the profession. This program will support faculty for one or more years as approved in the project plan and award documents. Grants for one year are limited to a maximum of US$25,000. Grants exceeding a one-year term will not exceed US$25,000 per year and will be considered for approval individually by the ISM Board of Directors for a specific term of years.
